Free Download. Step 2: Go to the Backup page after you enter its main interface. Then click the Source module to choose the backup source. Choose Folders and Files and choose the files you want to back up.

Step 3: Click the Destination module to continue. MiniTool ShadowMaker provides four destination paths to be chosen. Here, you can choose your NAS device as the destination. Here, you need to click the Shared tab. Click the Add new button, and type the path, user name, and password to connect your NAS device. Step 4: After selecting the backup source and destination, you can click Back up Now to perform system backup immediately.

Or you can click Back up Later to delay the process. After all of the steps are finished, you have successfully backed up your files to the NAS device. NAS devices enable many computers to share the same backup server at one time. If you want to learn more details of the NAS backup, you can read this post. We will reply to you as soon as possible. This is convenient for TV Shows you work frequently with. For example shows you never or no longer use, or because the list became too long for your taste. As you type, or change the format string, you will see the example change as well. It will give you an idea what the episode names will look like.

Others may find that annoying. By checking this option, Season or Episode numbers will always be at least 2 characters long, and if needed a leading zero will be added. However, sometimes episodes or seasons beyond number 9 may not yet exist when released, which may result in a less nice looking file or folder name in the future.

Therefor this options forces a length of at least 2 characters, as many TV Shows do not exceed 99 episodes or 99 seasons.

As an example H is the official generic name for a video encoding format, but x is the commonly used open source H encoder. So H is a format, and X is a software library to create H files. Some users prefer to see x This works for all codecs starting with H26, for example H will become x To debug, undo, or just see what has happened, a log file can be created.

In this log file you find the failures, original filename and directory, and the new filename and directory. The creation date, or last-modified date depending on your Operating System , of your video file and extra files, will be changed to the first aired date. This gives you right away an idea when a given episode was first aired by looking at the files, and it allows for easier sorting of files. Personally I find it convenient to see this as a visual feedback, but some like to work faster and in that case, clearing the list right-away can be more convenient.

This option will create a banner JPG file and an NFO file in the directory that holds the directory with the new named video file in it. Here episode information file NFO will be saved with the episode video file, with the same name. Again, this file will include some basic episode information. Audio and Media information will be pretty basic, since tools like KODI tend to overwrite this anyway.

Here you can choose if a series name and episode title needs to be changed when it comes to using caps or not. Your options are:. Sometimes, titles or names have funny characters in it, and depending on your Operating System this will cause problems.

Here we can define what characters should be replaced with what character or text. Windows does NOT allow these characters in filenames reference. Not every program you try is all that great and awesome, or doing what you were looking for — suggestions are welcome, but incase you really want to remove Rename My TV series, follow these steps. Just drag it into the trash. If you saved the icons as well, then you can toss those as well. Delete that as well.

Please download again and try again. Thanks Mike for catching this so fast. Hangon — I just downloaded the DMG and am getting the same message again. My local file works just fine …. Got the unsigned version, opens fine.

The application is generic. Get some sleep and thanks, great program! May have found a bug, or a preference Im missing. Renaming Dr. Who under the old version would include the year in the name, the new version, while listed in the search, no longer includes the year. Mike, I just updated the Mac version — still not signed though.

Some minor bugs have been fixed related to languages and such. Hi Hans. It installs fine, all install options left as default. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you. Hi Tony — I just uploaded v2. Would you mind testing this one under Windows 7? I have found a fix for the above problem — it appears the program is launching minimised. It appears there are some sizing shenanigans present as resizing it is difficult. Interesting and good find! I have no means to reproduce this issue though only have Windows 10 available — but the application does remember size and position by default and at startup resizes if needed. I remembered Microsoft has some free virtual machines available link for Internet Explorer testing.

I think I may have found what triggers this and it seems specific for older Windows versions. I have already changed the default language to German. No other languages are downloadable except of English. You can set the languages in 2 places: in the main window temporary and setting more permanent, setting the language in the main window at program startup. I set it to German on both places, I also tried Italian. I set the languages to Italian on both places and, with more series, I have only the English titles available.

Thanks Bob, I found the issue; the standard query for episodes does not seem to honor the accepted language return. Because of this I noticed a bug when mixing TV shows in different languages, I hope to implement that tomorrow.

Thanks for reporting and thanks for your patience …. Thank you too for the quick response. Which Windows version do you run? I think I found the issue. I hope to post a new version today. Thank you very much! OK, fixed the issue — other languages work very well now. One bug did get introduced with this; when mixing shows in different languages. For those mixing shows; when adding episodes of a show in German, and the adding episodes in English will either result in all episodes becoming english, or blanks for where there are none.

I do have a fix for this in mind, but that will take a few hours to implement. I just downloaded and tested it, now it works well! Switching back and forth between language should work properly now.

Please note that not all shows are available or complete in all languages. So your mileage may vary. You can now even mix languages in the Selected Episodes list — for those working with mixed shows. Some additional things have been added, like tracking the database structure version for the language issues I had to change a few things in the database.

In the future I may create a more elegant way to handle this. Right now, if the database structure is old, all data will be dropped and a new database will be created. Additionally, the similar named files will no longer be renamed if the related media file failed to rename.

This will be indicated in the log file as well. When toggling languages: — When you were searching for a show, the search will be started again in the selected language. If the search fails, it will revert to English. If this fails, it will revert to English as well. Pending issue : Signing the application for MacOS. Signing issue for MacOS has been resolved — the application is now signed officially, FFprobe and notifications work as they should!

When choosing that options, episodes will be numbered starting with episode 1, season 1. If Season 1 ends with episode 24, then season 2 will start with episode 25, etc. Episodes for Episode 0 zero, a. So sorry about not realising it. Thanks Michael for testing and for creating this package! USB drive? Were there extra files? Strange characters in the filename? Access rights?

To do some testing, I usually test with dummy files, here an article I wrote on how to make dummy files. Feel free to email me directly; webmaster at tweaking4all dot com, or reply to this notification. Most of the time, the files are on the same pc, but when I encountered this issue, I was working on files on a different pc win7 , by network share.

It eventually got stuck on episode 12, but it took 40 minutes to get there meaning it did not zoomed thru first 11 episodes, then stall on 12th. That said, I have no permission issue at all. The reason I had to get my files renamed a 2nd time from the network share is because they were misidentified by my media library software.

The series I was working on is Reign My media software was fooled into identifying it as some Asian anime series with a totally different name. Instead of removing manually from almost files, I chose to have file name corrected by RmTS. Which brings me to question this new behaviour when dealing with year in parenthesis. In previous version, RmTS would put the year in file name only when needed and would not when not needed. Since, v2, it seems we have to make this choice ourselves.

But this eventually causes identification error in media sftwr. In my usage scenario, I need to keep switching file name format to with or without year. Any chance we could go back to automatic treatment of adding year to file named only when needed? Per your request; I just released v2. The thought behind that was that show names either have or do not have years behind them.

I can see your situation though, and will see if I can bring back the year in the title. Since you had a rename issue on a network share; could it be that your media library software was working on those files at the same time? Lesson learned: I will not work anymore on actual media file over the network. I might test with dummy files. And a special thanks for merging 2 episodes into one single file feature.

I made that request a while back. With network connectivity, I have had my own share of issues as well, even on the Mac eg. Are you running over WiFi or Ethernet? I always disable it, as it used to lock files on my Windows setup in the past. So thank you so much for that! Your preferred filename format should save, each time when you change it, it will be stored in the database if not; then please let me know. Donations are always much appreciated, no matter how small or big … but nice compliments here, or sharing the link on social media or elsewhere is excellent as well.

You might even be a genius, as you just probably just nailed what caused the problem: thumbnail preview! On my former pc, I used to have this switched off, but the feature is enabled by default? While pleasing to the eye, it tends to bug down on large sized folders.. About donation, I tried that Flaterr thing even though I never heard of them , but could not find the way to send the deposited amount to you.

I am not at ease with Bitcoins. How about you setup a Paypal account? Thanks again. Hi Again. Wired network is the way to go. Like you said: it not only locks files, but it also bogs down your system with large media folders.

I always use Explorer in details view without preview just because of those 2 reasons. But as with all large companies; you have no leg to stand on and there is no normal person to talk to or discuss the situation with. However; PayPal donations can be made to hans at luijten dot net.

Triple digits seems to apply only to Doctor Who , so I went to tvdb and could not see this on their end. I went in settings, chose the format with year, which corrected show name, but then when I tried to rename Outlander, it wanted to rename to Outlander Season 0 , which makes me wonder if I should skip optionally?

So this can be explained. When testing Dr. Additionally thanks Michael! About the episodes merging feature, I noticed the original title remains. Last, I could not retrieve my deposit on Flaterr, but managed to have you named as recipient, just want to make sure you got my gift. Merging; Yes I can try to implement an option to keep both titles. Thanks for the little cosmetic fixes! Especially a typo is pretty bad.

Flattr is indeed a pain, and I suspect they must be making a lot of money. Flather notice how I never spell it the same way… was a pita. PS: Almost forgot, do you think Rename my TV Series could eventually prompt the user at startup that an update is available?

Well, as you can read in my other response; I did already implement it. Had a bright moment thanks to some extra coffee hahah. Prompt for updates has been on my mind for a while now.

Flattr is indeed a poor name marketing wise haha, I have to stop and think each single time I type it, and yes PayPal is a rip-off as well. Donations are very rare though and I very much appreciate that folks like yourself donate — so thanks again! OK, after some extra coffee, I figured a way to implement using both titles not yet released. Very true! Windows 10 and Trend Micro both try any stop me from installing. My bad about the version number fixed it and uploaded a setup with the correct version number — this is the same version.

They want developers to sign their applications. Developing these applications is just something I do for fun, and I do not see myself paying that kind of money yearly for a certificate.

Maybe I can find something like this for Windows as well. If anyone has a suggestion; feel free to comment. I downloaded and installed had to bypass Windows and Trend warnings.

When I tried to rename Trend refused to do so, a ransomeware warning for every file. Went back to ver 1. However; I do take this very serious, so I just did an extensive virus scan with multiple virus scanners. Windows Defender : 0 threads found.

Trend Micro Housecall : No threads found. Eset : Infected Files: 0. A full scan before and after which takes forever it seems , still nothing detected by either. Hi guys, thanks for the new v2. I just tried it and I found an issue. I am not sure if this is the same issue but here I go:. The series is called Goldbergs. When I search, I see there are 2 series with that string. I select that series name and it downloads the proper listings. I am finding the search a little fuzzy.

Stuff that worked in V1 is not working the same in V2. It will find 2 TV Series containing that string. I actually found that was a difficult series to find under V2, even pasting the TVDB name into the box did not work. Posts are filtered for spam and every post needs to be reviewed the first time a user posts.

Thanks for reporting! I did find a really easy fix in the code to avoid the double-click-search issue. I have again! I get about 4 pages of history in there. You are already doing it in at the next step: when we double click an episode, it populates to the 3rd section Selected Episodes.

Thanks again MfU for your suggestions! This must be am OS limitation. On my Mac, I can use the scroll-wheel to go fast through the list.

I have to admit that it took me a lot of clicking to get such a long list. This was originally implemented as you described, but … I ran into some weird focus issues when doing the double click I think it was under MacOS — but I wanted to keep the applications consistent over all 3 platforms. Happy and safe holidays for you too! Windows version. Thanks Carl! Glad to hear you are liking the application.

Thanks very much for the reply. No worries Carl, happens to me all the time as well. Thanks for the compliment and for the great catch on the slash — with all the differences in the file systems, I must have overlooked that one probably because of the directory separators.

In the next release I will add it to the default list. Your effort is appreciated. Your older versions were fantastic too. Now you can click on the popup. For a picture of the menu key look here: Wikipedia — Menu Key. Quick Search Episodes; I can see that relatively easy to implement, maybe by using a search-as-you-type kind of solution. If there are enough users interested, then I most certainly will add this to the To-Do list.

Names of multiple tracks; Mentioning the additional languages and their title in the extra language, will come with quite a few challenges. Not to mention what to do when shows are incomplete in the other language. This is not so pretty. If both tracks have the same codec like AC3, one codec information should be enough with listing the language of these tracks subsequent to the codec like:. With all the experiments I did, I never got it to work reliably.

Oh and any suggestions on how to do this are most welcome of course! As for multiple Audio tracks; I found the metadata in files quite often to be incomplete, incorrect, or simply missing. This will probably bring up the question regarding subtitles as well … so I need to spend some time thinking about an elegant solution.

If found, you have the episode number and you can take a look into the episode list the user has searched before. Only set titles automatically that are unambiguous. Anyway one who wants to rename all titles correctly maybe also wants to set metadata correct and can fix this after finding missing metadata. Unless I completely change things again. Thanks again and Merry Christmas! Please make column width of all panes customizable. Maybe a right click could make a proposed filename editable for a quick change before renaming all files?

Happy New Year to you Alexander! Are you thinking of a divider between Selected Episodes and Selected Files? Also: what screen resolution are you working with? Just for my reference. The challenge here will be that the names get refreshed frequently based on TheTVDB info, which would not be the same as the info after you edited it. Is there any type of mistakes you see recurring? Sometimes the titles in episodes are very long and this pane is too slim for displaying the whole title. I had some files with a longer prefix string in episode name.

The second part of the episode name was not visible due to a too slim pane. So I could not find the correct episode to assign to the files. But between the other panes it is also good to have a divider because the name for selected episodes or selected file can be very long! Editing proposed filenames: Some continuous TV shows set the year of production to the season number.

It is good to remove leading zeros except one for these files. Maybe it is good to have this as an additional option. But I thought it also would be good to correct single filenames directly before renaming. Maybe someone finds spelling mistakes and could correct it on the fly. In v2. Each of these 3 lists will have a little search box below them, and a counter for each list to indicate how many rows were found.

For now I have not yet focussed on the support for multiple audio tracks. The primary audio track is the one that will be used. Having said that: the tags for metadata in the different video formats is very inconsistent.

As you can see; a lot of redundancy, and even with that I have not found a single video player application that shows all of them correctly. Not to mention the [lack of] proper support for tags by the used container format avi, MP4, MKV, etc , and by used playback software or application. Anyhoo — there will be a lot of new features coming your way.

A quick search in the episode list would be great, was about to request this enhancement myself, but found it has already been suggested Thanks for this great tool! Thanks Frank! This is one area where Filebot is better although it frequently gets it wrong.

When two or more series have the same title but different broadcasting years; e. The latest version of your software does not add the year to the filename, causing media players and media software to scrape the wrong information for a series. Open Settings and add the year in the Filename format textbox for the specific renaming session of a particular series. Thanks for bringing up. So far I have not ran into any issues myself, but one media player is not the same as the other.

Hope this helps. No matter which choice I make, the program does not open. I am using Win7 Pro 32bit Service pack1. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time, dan…. Not sure what may have happened, but usually this means a task in the background is accessing the database.

What is the database directory on Linux Ubuntu systems? I suspect they may have become corrupt when I tried to run a Rename query without having a connection and force-quit the app. I hope this does not happen again. It looks like frozen. I guess you read all meta information from these files when loading. You could add a loading screen or something like that to show the progress until all files are added.

Much better is to list all added filenames directly and start a background thread for reading meta information. It would be great to add an additional possibility to rename files:If you select some files or episodes in the lists and these selected entries have episodes or files allocated, the button rename should allow to only rename these selected entries from the list.

This allows to rename files of a TV show with many files step by step. The loading of metadata and files depend on the speed of TheTVDB and the speed of your Internet connection — at the first load of a show.

Depending on your expiration settings, default is 7 days, data is retrieved locally and should be fast. This is why I implemented the use of SQLite database. While loading data the headers of the sections indicate activity. Loading data from TheTVDB, in a separate thread, would not be impossible — but the implementation will take some work and I have to finish a few other applications before I can start this.

Renaming only the selected files; I may or may not implement this. My concern with this would be that a user could have selected a row by accident and not anticipate that with that selection only one show gets renamed. That goes straight to the top of the ToDo list. And the same goes for the default path for the log file.

I think right now it defaults to the related directory, but I may be wrong. I think we have talked at cross purposes. Try adding files or more at once. It will take very long until your program responses again without showing activity meanwhile. Of course this depends on your speed of your internet connection and is good for me.

If the TV show is in cache, does this button only gets episodes from cache or does it compare them with thetvdb too if there has been an update? I hear you on some filenames getting too long. I see that making sense. I wish TheTVDB would be more consistent with this — not a big fan myself of using year numbers to indicate a season, but that is a personal preference. I have seen some shows where regular season numbers and years have been mixed.

What are your thoughts on that approach? RMTV will automatically default update data, if the data in the database is older than 7 days. Every time you close RMTV, it will forget what episodes you assigned to what files. Ah that makes more sense …. I only included it for the very few users requesting this. I really have to think about what I can do to make this intuitive for the user. Thanks again for the input — I very much appreciate it and it will help make the tool even better!

Sometimes Episode titles are too long — e. This is a complete episode title for some specials. I cannot differentiate between titles for mapping. I saw these continuing TV shows with season numbers and then changing into year for season naming too. There are the filenames shown how they should be named after clicking on the button rename. Of course RMTV should forget what episodes you assigned to what file.

There is no need to save such information! The Force Refresh has already been implemented in my test version. I do have 2 major other projects that need my attention as well. And if not do you suggest any similar program for movies too which I have same problems with my movie banks. It takes much more time to move forward step by step and consider how long it takes to correct my 2 TB mp3 music archive. Thanks for this great comment again, it does put a smile on my face imagining your enthusiasm!

Thanks man! My application does not do movies — sorry. Thanks again for the compliments — awesome that you enjoy the application. B — Your winner card in this software is ease of operation in general usage. I have some Questions too and I would be glad if you answer them. Or Press cancel to kill the program. I mean is the software able to find out video file format by itself? And if not what is the best way to make the arrangements. I hope best of all for you.

Hi Rimartic. Thanks again for the compliments and showing me the strengths of the application from a users perspective! I have actually seen with most of my applications used in surprisingly different ways than what I originally designed them for.

In conclusion, to decide which one is better in this aspect based on Whether you want to open the traditional or uncommon files. To open the traditional files, Synology is better. To open the uncommon files, QNAP is more suitable for you. You can play and watch media on Synology NAS, but only on devices with Internet or network access capabilities.

So if you have more wireless settings, please consider using the Synology NAS. You can check the Synology compatibility page on the Synology NAS of your choice, and then see what options are available. Besides, QNAP is bundled with software for immediate access to a large number of software, including newer versions of core binaries. Synology has more plasticity than QNAP. If this is for commercial use, this is very important. If you want your NAS to focus on user accessibility, you can choose Synology devices.

Apple’s CSAM Mistake This week we look at a pervasive failure built into the random number generators of a great many, if not nearly all, lightweight IoT devices.

We look at some old, new and returned critical vulnerabilities in major VPN products. We look at a number of terrific bits of feedback from our listeners. Then we carefully examine the operation and consequences of Apple’s recent announcement of their intention to begin reacting to the photographic image content being sent, received and stored by their iOS-based devices. The BlackMatter Interview This week we look at FireFox’s declining active user count, at the evolution of the Initial Network Access Broker world, at several different ransomware group renamings and revivals and we encounter a well-informed Active Directory security researcher who feels about Microsoft’s July pretty much as we do.

I want to turn our listeners onto a very interesting looking Hamachi’esque overlay for WireGuard and share a fun diagnostic anecdote that cost me a day of work last Friday.

But we first look at how Chrome managed to hugely speed up its Phishing website early warning system making it even earlier. We cover the striking news of Kaseya having obtained a universal decryptor which is effective for every one of their victims, we look at the massive HP printer driver mess and consider the larger lesson that it teaches, and then we look at the new security features GitHub is bringing to its support of the “Go” language.

REvil Vanishes! This week we look at the continuing attacks on Chrome with yet another zero-day and at Mozilla’s continuing work to give their users the most privacy possible. Amazingly, two more new problems have surfaced with Microsoft printer technology. We have a review of last week’s Patch Tuesday including the importance of also updating any instances of Adobe’s Acrobat and Reader. We revisit an old friend and consider the folly of rolling one’s own crypto.

We look at the explosive revelations surrounding the widespread abuse of iPhone and Android “surveillance-ware” produced by the NSO Group. And finally, after sharing one fun piece of errata, we’re going to finish by examining the curious, sudden, complete and total disappearance of the REvil ransomware organization.

So today we first catch up on the still sadly relevant PrintNightmare from which the industry has been unable to awaken. We’ll cover a few more bits of security news. Since those MSP’s all, in turn, have their own customers, the result was a multiplicative explosion in simultaneous ransomware attacks. Since those attacks reportedly numbered in excess of ! So, while we’ll definitely be covering the PrintNightmare and other events of the week, our topic will be the reconstruction of the timeline and details of the Kaseya Saga.

Halfway through This week we look at the story behind an important Edge update and revisit Google’s now-delayed FloC liftoff. We consider the cost of Ireland’s recovery from the Conti ransomware attack, and ask who’s responsible for the damage and data loss following the remote wiping of many Western Digital My Book NAS devices. We take a moment to observe the passing of an industry legend. Then, we look at the mess surrounding questions of where Windows 11 will run.

I share my favorite web browser keyboard shortcut, and also my favorite web site cloning tool, which I just had the occasion to use. We have a worthwhile looking cybersecurity Humble Bundle, then we’ll wrap up by responding to two pieces of closing the loop feedback from our terrific listeners. And that will bring us to the end of the first half of an event-filled Avaddon Ransonomics This week, believe it or not, we have yet another 0-day stomped out in Chrome.

We also have some additional intelligence about the evolution of the ransomware threat. I also want to closely look at a curious WiFi bug that was recently discovered in iOS and what it almost certainly means about the way we’re still programming today. Under our miscellany topic I want to share the SHA hash of the developer release. I have a tip about creating an offline account and restoring Windows 10’s traditional Start menu under Windows A new purpose has also been discovered for this podcast which I want to share, and I’ve decided to explain in more detail than I have before what I’ve been doing with SpinRite’s evolution – it’s much more than anyone might expect – yet no more than is necessary.

Then we’re going to conclude with the view of ransomware from Russia, from two Russian security researchers who believe they know exactly why the Avaddon ransomware as a service decided to shutter its operations and publish its keys. TLS Confusion Attacks This week we’re going to start by looking at a moment-by-moment reconstruction of a recent Chrome browser attack and patch battle.

Then we’re going to recap last week’s industry wide June patch-fest followed by looking at TikTok’s controversial but unsurprising privacy policy update. We need to also cover the wonderful spy-novel’ish ANOM sting operation which lowered the boom on as many as criminals. For our happily infrequent Errata section we’ll challenge an apparently erroneous statement I made last week, then I want to share an interesting laptop data recovery experience which BitLocker made much more complex a few weeks ago which I think our listeners will find interesting.

Then we’re going to tackle this week’s topic of some very troubling research which again demonstrates just how difficult it is to design robustly secure networked systems. Extrinsic Password Managers This week I want to start off with a calm rant to summarize why today’s computer security is so atrocious. I think it’s worth a bit of a reality check on that. Then we’re going to look at a new feature in Firefox and at Firefox’s apparent jump in performance.

We’ll touch on three new ransomware victims, look at what’s been learned about how Colonial Pipeline was breached, and at the curious news that the FBI somehow managed to snatch all of DarkSide’s Bitcoins.

We’ll look at the latest good and bad news regarding WordPress, and at Github’s updated policy regarding posting proofs-of-concepts for ongoing attacks. Then we’ll wrap up by examining the question of whether password managers should be intrinsic to our browsers or extrinsic. I think we’re going to have some fun! Epsilon Red This week we begin by examining the recent advances made by the just-released Chrome 91 and revisit Google’s configurable long-term activity logging.

On the ransomware front we look at yet another likely addition to the ransomware ecosystem: trusted 3rd-party file decryptors. We anticipate next week’s activation of the Amazon Sidewalk ultra-wide area network, look at the questionable claims of another massive cyberattack, and at WhatsApp’s privacy struggles with India and Brazil — couldn’t happen to nicer folks. Then we’ll touch on just a single bit of trivia before plowing into a detailed examination of the operation of the newest ransomware in town: Epsilon Red.

The Dark Escrow This week we examine Firefox’s just-released and welcome re-architecture under codename “Fission. We then ask the question, “When they say IoT, do they mean us? Leo, it’s not quite as bad as whatever that game is that you cannot stop playing, but still.

We’ll then share an ample helping of closing-the-loop feedback from our terrific listeners, after which I want to conclude by predicting what I would bet we’re probably going to next see emerge from the evolving ransomware business model sad though it is to utter the phrase “ransomware business model. We look at blockchain analytics which are used to follow the dark money, the mixed signals now coming from the Darkside group and a live list of more than ransomware attacks during the past two years from the dark web.

We cover last week’s Patch Tuesday that you won’t want to miss. Then we take a close look at the biggest non-Colonial Pipeline news from last week: a new round of research which revealed a range of attacks on WiFi’s security. We ask what the heck Google is planning with two-step verification, and we examine a huge new problem with the Internet’s majority of email servers.

We look at the reality of Tor exit node insecurity, touch on a new sci-fi novel by a well-known author, share a bit of closing-the-loop feedback, then take a look at this latest very high-profile ransomware attack from a previously low-key attacker. The Ransomware Task Force This week we touch on several topics surrounding ransomware. We look at the REvil attack that affected Apple, and at this past weekend’s attack that brought down Southern California’s world renown Scripps Health system.

We also look at the two notification services that Troy now offers. I also ran across a Dan Kaminsky anecdote that I had to share, then we have two pieces of closing the loop listener feedback before we conclude by taking a look at the just-announced task force to combat ransomware.

Is there any hope that this scourge can be thwarted? We finally catch up with this month’s Patch Tuesday, and look at a welcome maturation in Google’s Project Zero vulnerability disclosure policy. We shine a light upon a new startup venture which, if successful, promises to dramatically improve the future of IoT security.

We then look at some controversial security research, for which the researchers have apologized, and wonder whether any apology was due. We shine another light onto a new battle Cloudflare has chosen to wage against an abusive patent troll, to help Cloudflare with additional attention, and to let our listeners know that they can participate in a money-making hunt for prior art. And after a brief SpinRite progress report, we engage with the Internet mystery of the Autonomous System We look at Chrome’s vulnerability-driven update to v89, and then its feature-embellished move to Chrome We consider the surprising move by the FBI to remove web shells from U.

We also have an interesting-looking programmer’s Humble Bundle, some interesting closing-the-loop feedback from our listeners, and a brief progress report on SpinRite. We finish by examining an important privacy guarantee provided by Google’s FLoC implementation which prevents homogeneity attacks, where users presenting a common cohort ID also share a sensitive attribute.

PwnIt and OwnIt This week we start with some needed revisiting of previous major topics. We look at an additional remote port that Chrome will soon be blocking, and the need to change server ports if you’re using it. We look at Cisco’s eyebrow-raising decision not to update some end-of-life routers having newly revealed critical vulnerabilities, and we also examine another instance of the industry’s failure to patch for years. Then, we conclude with a blow-by-blow, or hack-by-hack, walkthrough of last week’s quite revealing and somewhat chilling Pwn2Own competition.

We look at the consequences of the personal data of plus million Facebook users appearing on the ‘Net and how to tell if you’re represented there.

We look at another water treatment plant break-in with a very different outcome. We look at a new move by Google to further lock down Android against abuses of its permissive-by-design API services. Then, after sharing a catchy tweet, we look into some new research from researchers in Ireland into the unwarranted chattiness of iOS and Android mobile phones.

This week we begin by checking in on the patching progress, or lack therefore, of the ProxyLogon Exchange Server mess. We examine a new Spectre vulnerability in Linux, a handful of high-severity flaws affecting OpenSSL, still more problems surfacing with SolarWinds code, an intriguing new offering from our friends at Cloudflare, and the encouraging recognition of the need for increasing vigilance of the security of increasingly prevalent networked APIs.

I’ll check in about my work on SpinRite. Then we’re going to take a look at the often breathlessly reported hack of the PHP project’s private Git server, and why I think that all the tech press got it all wrong. What the FLoC? We look at Firefox’s next release which will be changing its Referer header policy for the better. We then conclude by taking a good look at Google’s plan to replace tracking with explicit recent browsing history profiling, which is probably the best way to understand FLoC Federated Learning of Cohorts.

And as a special bonus we almost certainly figure out why they named it something so awful. ProxyLogon This week we start off with a bunch of interesting browser-related news, zero-days, updates, a browser-based PoC for Spectre, a zero-script tracking kludge, and a look at last Tuesday’s Patch Tuesday, what it fixed and what it broke.

Some wonderful news for the Open Source community, a bit of miscellany, some listener feedback, and a screenshot of the final replacement for SpinRite’s “Discovering System’s Mass Storage Devices Then we revisit the Microsoft Exchange disaster, another week downstream and still drowning. Hafnium This week we look into last week’s critical Chrome update and also cover the wackiest-but-true Chrome extension of all time.

We look at Google’s new funding of Linux security development; a surprisingly undead, long-unheard-from media player that just received a massive collection of updates; and, yes, still another way of abusing Intel’s latest processor microarchitecture.

We need to update everyone on our Dependency Confusion topic from two weeks back because there’s big news there. We have several bits of identical listener feedback all wanting to be sure that I knew something had happened. Then we’re going to cover the world’s latest global crisis which we first mentioned as breaking news in the middle of last week’s podcast. It was breaking then.

It’s badly broken now. CNAME Collusion This week we discuss a welcome change coming soon to the Chrome browser, and a welcome evolution in last week’s just released Firefox We’re going to look at questions surrounding the source of the original intrusion into SolarWinds servers, and at a new severity vulnerability affecting Rockwell Automation PLC controllers.

We’ll touch on VMware’s current trouble with exploitation of their vCenter management system, and I want to share a recent code debugging experience I think our listeners will enjoy and find interesting. Then we’re going to conclude with some information about something that’s been going on quietly out of sight and under the covers which must be made as widely public among web technologists as possible. We look at a clever new means of web browser identification and tracking and at a little mistake the Brave browser made that had big effect.

I want to remind our listeners about the ubiquitous presence of tracking and viewing beacons in virtually all commercial eMail today. We’ll look at Microsoft’s final SolarWinds Solorigate report and at another example of the growing trend of mobile apps being sold and then having their trust abused. I’ll share a post from the weekend about a dramatic improvement in SSD performance after running SpinRite, but also why you may wish to hold off on doing so yourself.

And then we’re going to look at what everyone will agree was — and perhaps still is — a breathtaking oversight in the way today’s complex software products are assembled which creates an inherent massive vulnerability across the entire software industry.

This week we’ll begin by following up on last week’s headline-making attack on the Oldsmar, Florida water treatment plant with new details that have since come to light. We’ll then take a look into last week’s Patch Tuesday event and at some of the sadly broken things that have once again been fixed. We’re going to look at a dangerous Android App with 1. I’ll briefly update about my past eventful week with SpinRite, which includes a second movie of new SpinRite code running.

Then we’ll take a look at the recent discovery of the largest list of email and password combinations ever compiled, and what we can each do about it. We look at a high-profile Windows Defender misfire, and at new WordPress plugin nightmares. We check in on the world of DDoS attacks and cover the meaning of three new critical vulnerabilities in SolarWinds software. We have a bit of closing-the-loop feedback from our listeners, an update on my work toward the next SpinRite, and then we look at a near-miss disaster in a poorly designed industrial control system.

NAT Slipstreaming 2. We cover a number of serious new vulnerabilities including an urgent update need for the just-released Gnu Privacy Guard; another supply chain attack against end users; a disastrous year-old flaw in Linux’s SUDO command; and, thanks to Google, some details of Apple’s quietly redesigned sandboxing of iMessage in iOS I’m going to share something that I think our listeners will find quite interesting about some recent architectural decisions for SpinRite, and then we’ll conclude with a look at the inevitable improvement in NAT bypassing Slipstreaming.

Comparative Smartphone Security This week we look at the updates in release 88 of both Chrome and Edge with their evolving password manager features.

We also look at two recent headshaking consequences of the hard end of life for Adobe’s Flash. Ransomware gangs have added another new incentive for payment, and additional details continue emerging about last year’s SolarWinds attacks.

We have newly disclosed discoveries from a Google Project Zero researcher, and I spend a bit of time wondering out loud how we’re ever going to change the low priority that’s currently being given to serious security problems that don’t directly inconvenience end users.

And we finish by examining a very useful analysis of the comparative security of iOS and Android recently published by Johns Hopkins’ Matthew Green and team. Where the Plaintext Is This week we look at one aspect in which Chrome and Chromium differ, and then at a bit of growth news from the DuckDuckGo folks.

Google’s Project Zero reports on some terrific detective work, and we look at last week’s Patch Tuesday. There’s also Microsoft’s pending change to the flaws which enabled last year’s Zerologon debacle, and the NSA’s interesting statement about enterprises and the DoH protocol.

We look at the research that cracked the secret key out of Google’s supposedly uncrackable Titan FIDO U2F dongle, and we catch up with a bit of listener feedback. Then we wrap up by looking at various aspects of the frenzy caused by WhatsApp’s quite predictable move to incorporate its users’ conversation metadata into Facebook’s monetization ecosystem. Out With the Old This week we address critical updates for Firefox and all Chromium-based browsers and a potentially unwelcome, but reversible, change coming to Firefox.

We look at another new tactic being employed by ransomware gangs; an update on ransomware’s profitability; a bogus-seeming announcement from Intel during yesterday’s CES; and the first use, on this podcast, of the term “teledildonics. SolarBlizzard This week we open the New Year taking a longer look at fewer topics since the bad guys were apparently enjoying their New Year holiday, too. So we look at an interesting kludge that’s been forced upon Chrome by ill-mannered antiviral scanners.

Originally the application was built as a purpose to learn more about Lazarus Pascal and cross-platform development. Rename My TV Series, and Tweaking4All in general, does not provide any methods, means, or services, to access or distribute copyrighted materials.

Rename My TV Series cannot be used, and is not intended, to promote or facilitate the possible illegal distribution of copyrighted materials.

Always consult your local laws — be informed. It is your own responsibility to comply with these laws. In the meanwhile, my tool is being used be a lot of users to help them rename TV-Series files. Just keep in mind that this tool is not to promote illegal downloading or illegal sharing of copyrighted materials. This has been expanded with features like resolution, year, data first aired, etc.

Step 1 is obviously downloading the latest version. Pick from the list below, the version suitable for your Operating System:. You can find the package here.

To make access to beta releases easier, here the most current beta versions. Please be aware that these are test versions, so they can have bugs and potentially will destroy all your files and set you house on fire. Linux users : Please pay attention to the versions. There is a GTK version and a Qt5 version! Also note as mentioned before that some dependencies may need to be met. Linux users create a directory and drop the renamemytvseries and ffprobe binaries in it.

You can optionally use one of the icons. Windows users run the setup file to get the installation started. Most likely nobody reads this section, and I hope that is the case, as it would mean that I did a good job on designing the application. Tip: Quite a few options can also be found in the regular menu op the application. MacOS users will find it in the top menu bar, and Linux users will see the menu in the top part of the application.

On that note: tons of thanks to the people at the Lazarus Forum and especially Dmitry who did a lot of Cocoa development. Things have been growing a little out of proportion, I hope to though on some of these new features as we go through the user interface.

Note: This application is completely English and that will probably not change anytime soon. This is just a hobby for me, and society expects me to have a job. This can be part of the name or the full name of a TV show. Sometimes the desired show does not appear right away. This will look something like this:. This brings us to the use of the database. Once a show has been retrieved with episodes, it will all be cached in a database, so the next time you want to retrieve this show it will pull it from the database which is much faster.

This is why there is an option in the preferences that allows you to dictate how quick data expires and needs to be refresh.

By default this is 7 days, since most shows have one episode per week anyway. In this section you will see the episodes of the selected show listed. Exceptions are when the search only returned one result, or you selected an item from the History menu, episodes appear automatically. Continuous numbering means that when Season 1 ends with episode 24, then Season 2 starts with episode 25, etc. Right clicking an episode will bring up a menu, with items depending on your selection;.

Each row will link a selected episode to a selected file, which can be shuffled manually or sorted before actually renaming anything. None of the notifications require interaction, as they disappear automatically. Tip for Windows users: Before right clicking a selection of multiple episodes, you may need to keep the Shift button pressed to not loose the selection. After adding episodes, you can Sort or Remove them, drag them up and down, or Clear the entire list.

After adding one or more files has completed, a brief summary will appear showing you how many files were found and added. If FFprobe was enabled, but somehow failed to find media information, this will be reported as well. As with episodes, added files can be Sort ed, Remove d, shuffled by manually dragging them around, and you can Clear the entire list. Sorting is done on best effort and may or may not work perfectly. We try to remove numbers in show-names and years, in hopes to get a useful sort based on numbers remaining.

This has worked very well for me, but I can imagine that this is not perfect. Feel free to report sort issues in the comments below. When adding files, and with FFprobe enabled, files will be analyzed right away. This will slow down reading the files, even though FFprobe is amazingly fast. Rename My TV Series offers the option to move renamed files to a new location. More about the renaming format later, as this is the same format used to define the renaming format for files.

Option 2 — Make a directory structure in the directory where the file currently resides. Obviously FFprobe will not detect any media info, as there is none, but at least you can try and test without losing any important files. Failures will be reported in this log file as well. I find this convenient since I can see right away what happened. To remedy this, Rename My TV Series strips the years from names, for those that have a year in the name. When using this for the show title, a year may, or may not be included, depending on how the name was defined on TheTVDB.

If this option is checked, a leading zero WILL be added anyway for numbers less than This option enables or disables scanning video files with FFprobe. FFprobe is included with the files you download here. Rename My TV Series would catch this during the renaming process as well and produce a failure as well. In some cases however one may want to have multiple episodes as they may be stored in different formats or resolutions. For example a p version for mobile use and a p version for watching it at home on your TV.

Enabling this option default disabled allows you to override this. Be warned though; this may result in unexpected outcomes. This option enables or disables the little hint windows popping up when hovering over certain user interface elements. By adding, removing, or updating data, the database may get defragmented and become slower. This is probably only noticeable with large amounts of data in the database, but SQLite has a cleaning vacuum option which will run each time the application is closed.

This does slow down closing the application a tiny bit, so if it takes too long for your taste; you can disable it. Since we all have different monitors, different preferences on the position and size of the application window; this option will save the size and position of Rename My TV Series.

This option also exists in the main menu. Searching TV Shows is best done in the English language, but it can be desirable to select another language. Here you can set the default language which can be overridden in the main window on an individual basis.

Some are not translated, some only partially. Selecting another language may result in finding less TV shows, incomplete translations, etc.

When searching for TV Shows, you may get zero or more results. Assuming this was the TV Show you were looking for anyway. By default, Episodes are listed by date Aired.

By checking this option, the DVD sort order will be used instead. Normally, episodes are numbered in such a way that each season start with episode 1. Enabling this option will start numbering with Season 1, episode 1, and keep numbering the following season in sequence.

This means, if Season 1 ends with Episode 24, then Season 2 will start with Episode Episodes in Season 0 zero a. With a normal workflow, one may start with selecting a TV Show, select episodes, add files, rename, and start the next TV show.

With this option enabled, all lists will be cleared when you select another TV Show, to avoid mixing up things. In case your workflow is different, for example you do mix TV Shows or you have the habit of adding files first, then you may want to disable this option by unchecking it. In theTVDB data, sometimes shows are not named in a consisted way. In the video demo in the beginning of this article, you could already see this. To speed up things, episodes information is being cached in the SQLite database, which in most cases is just fine.

Weekly broadcasted shows will most likely not update more than once a week, and most of the time information is already known far before the next episode is being broadcasted. For old show, the data may never update. TheTVDB is however very active and old data may be corrected and updated at any time.

After the indicated number of days, Rename My TV Series will check if an update is needed, and if so, execute the update. Default this is set to 7 days, but you can pick anything you want. Some special values are:. Each time you download episodes for a given TV Show, the TV Show will be added to the history list, giving you quick access in the main window.

Even then I still check the posts — I just get too many inappropriate posts spammers, folks advertising their stuff etc , to let it go all automated.
